United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is looking for dynamic, results-driven Nepalese citizens for the following positions in its office in Kathmandu and Biratnagar:

Successful candidates will be expected to provide substantive contributions to humanitarian action, including mobilizing and coordinating effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to: (i) alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; (ii) advocate for the rights of people in need; and (iii) facilitate sustainable solutions.

National Coordination Officer - ALP Band AL 3 - One post - Kathmandu

The National Coordination Officer will perform his/her duties under the supervision of the OCHA Head of Office. Working as part of a dynamic team, in regular contact with all United Nations Agencies and their partners in Nepal. Duties include: Assist in the implementation of inclusive, field-level humanitarian coordination mechanisms; Assist in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the Nepal humanitarian work plan; Assist in monitoring developments in the country, undertake research and support the preparation of analytical reports highlighting factors affecting the overall humanitarian situation: Draft regular situation reports highlighting relevant operational factors affecting the humanitarian situation and response efforts; Monitor humanitarian risks, compile information and liaise with relevant (humanitarian) partners to support contingency planning efforts.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR NATIONAL OFFICER POSITION:

Advanced University degree (Masters Degree or equivalent) preferably in political or social science, public administration, economics or other relevant field. Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in experience in the field of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and response, inter-agency coordination, or in a related area of expertise. International experience in a relevant area of expertise and solid knowledge of the UN common system, in particular, OCHA's institutional mandate, its policies and guidelines related to humanitarian affairs and' humanitarian reform is strongly desirable. Ability to write clearly and concisely in English and Nepali. Strong computer skills. Proven high-revel representation skills. Proven team-working skills.
