International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a non-political, non-sectarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization, desirous of furthering humanitarian and development activities in Nepal. IRC aims to save lives, strengthen institutions and promote social cohesion.

Child Protection Program Officer (1 each based in Sunsari and Saptari)

The Child Protection Program Officer, based in either Sunsari or Saptari, will support IRC's project to build the capacity of community members, police, government agencies, NGOs and other key stakeholders working in flood affected areas in child protection. He/she will be IRC's focal point in the district by attending all coordination meetings, manage and provide technical support in child protection to the local partners, and monitor and ensure quality implementation of the project.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Daily management and implementation of project at the district level

• Program Monitoring

• Training, Capacity building and technical support of partner agencies

• Representation and Coordination.


PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or relevant field; Masters in Social Sciences preferred

• Strong technical knowledge in child protection with at least 3 years of experience

• Experience working on child protection issues, preferably in the Terai.

• Experience working with communities, government officials, and key stakeholders

• Ability to build relationships with people of various ethnic, caste and religious backgrounds

• Ability to translate between English-Nepali preferred

• Ability to speak some Terai languages (i.e. Maithili, Bhojpuri) required.

• Dynamic, motivated, takes initiative, creative

• Able to work in a diverse team, but also independently.
