Communications Manager
WWF, the global conservation organization, seeks to recruit a Communications Manager based in Kathmandu, Nepal for its new Living Himalayas Programme. The Living Himalayas Programme aims at combining the efforts of the governments of India, Nepal and Bhutan to conserve and manage the Eastern Himalayas, a place with some of nature's most magnificent spaces, rich in forests, wildlife and freshwater.
The Communications Manager will have the unique opportunity to develop and implement strategic communications advancing the goals and objectives of the programme. S/he will work closely with colleagues from both the region and the rest of the world to integrate strategic communications within the policy and programmatic work, target key audiences to expand profile of the Living Himalayas Programme, and maximize impact of conservation achievements.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• University level qualifications in communications or a related field are required. The ideal candidate will also have at least five years experience in devising, formulating and implementing communication strategies and work plans.
• Demonstrated experience of working in an international, multi-cultural setting is essential, as is success in communicating complex issues in a persuasive way to a wide variety of audiences at all levels using diverse channels.
• Experience leading and participating in multi-disciplinary teams and building consensus, optimism and confidence in the face of challenges and pressure is a must.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal are required, fluent English is essential while other regional languages would be an asset.
