Position: Deputy Child and Youth Protection Coordinator

International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a non-political, non-sectarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization, desirous of furthering humanitarian and development activities in Nepal. IRC aims to save lives, strengthen institutions and promote social cohesion.

Position: Deputy Child and Youth Protection Coordinator

The Deputy Child and Youth Protection (DCYP) Coordinator, based in Kathmandu, will be a member of the senior management team. He/she will initially work under the expatriate Child and Youth Protection (CYP) Coordinator, who heads the Child and Youth Protection and Development (CYPD) program, but will assume leadership of the CYPD program in a phased manner and based on capacity to take on responsibilities over the course of several months. Upon taking leadership of the CYPD program, his/her title will change to CYP Coordinator and he/she will report directly to the Country Director. The DCYP Coordinator will provide technical support and strategic leadership in the development of the CYPD program, including proposal writing, fundraising and staff training. He/she will represent IRC Nepal and the CYPD program with, donors, government ministries, local NGO partners, coordination mechanisms, and key stakeholders at the national, and where necessary, the international level. Further, the DCYP Coordinator will oversee the overall implementation of the program, ensure timely and effective monitoring and evaluation, recruit staff and contribute to the overall direction of IRC Nepal.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategic Leadership and technical support
• Proposal writing and fundraising
• Staff recruitment
• Representation and Coordination
• Oversee implementation of the program (including budget management)
• Monitor the program to ensure quality
• Build capacity of CYPD team and local partners
• Facilitate baseline surveys and project evaluations


PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters Degree in Social Sciences or similar preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge in the area of children/youth programming, livelihoods, peace building, education and protection, especially in post-conflict Nepal.
• At least 5 years of experience working in a similar program.
• Experience managing numerous staff.
• Excellent spoken and written English. Ability to translate between Nepali and English.
• Experience writing proposals, donor reports and conducting persuasive donor presentations.
• Ability to build relationships with people of various ethnic, caste and religious backgrounds and people in government roles.
• Strong leadership and team building skills.
• Strong budget management skills.
• Dynamic, motivated, takes initiative, creative.
• Ability and willingness to travel at least 30% of the time.
